Birds and More

We stopped at the second bridge to let some walkers come across and to take more photographs. Here the masses of lilies looked magnificent, their long stems very obvious in the clear sunlit water. Suddenly there was a harsh call and Mark glimpsed a heron. It wasn't until we reached the other side that we were graced with it's spectacular presence as it landed on the rail of the bridge.

An unexpected sight greeted us on the wider Grassy Bridge. A robin was busy looking for food for it's young, obviously very used to humans it flew back and forth around us confidently close. The infants, half hidden by bushes, sat on the edge of the wall frantic for there takeaway meal. We decided to have a drink here as it was all very entertaining and we could also watch the swans, and the coots with heads bobbing comically, swimming around the reed beds. Yellow iris grew on the inner bank now in the shade and the sunny water along side the bridge teamed with tiddlers.
